Colorado town of Vail

Summer is right around the corner and so too are those grand vacation plans we spend so much time perfecting! If your vacation plans involve Colorado’s Summit County, you’ll soon realize there’s no shortage of things to do and places to see. Like so many others, you’ve decided to make Breckenridge, Frisco, or Dillon a part of your summertime fun. Because Summit County can be as popular a place to visit in the summer as it is in the winter, it’s best to brush up on a few tips on how to snag the perfect vacation rental.

  1. The early bird gets the worm. We’ve all heard that saying before, and it definitely applies when picking up a prime vacation rental. There’s nothing worse than trying to find a place to stay last minute, it can be an utter nightmare. Not only do rates tend to skyrocket during the peak of each season, but your chances of finding a place to match your family’s needs might plummet. We recommend you book your lodging as far out as possible to ensure your home away from home is exactly what you’ve planned for.
  2. How much space will you need? Consider how much room you’ll need for yourself and those you’re traveling with. Talk to your family and figure out who’s comfortable with what. Are siblings willing to share rooms, or is part of their ideal vacation having as much space to move about as possible? Once you’ve determined how many rooms, or bathrooms you’ll need, it’s much simpler to find a space that fits. Whether it’s a cozy studio or a house to sleep eight, there’s bound to be a rental that works for everyone. Remember to always pay close attention to lodging descriptions and images.
  3. Do you have activities pre-planned? When searching for the perfect vacation home, consider what activities you’re likely to do, and their location. For instance, if you plan to spend quite a bit of time shopping, or visiting notable restaurants in Frisco, or Breckenridge, find lodging in the heart of downtown. If you plan to spend the majority of your time outdoors, try to find a rental near the Dillon Reservoir, or by the Breckenridge Resort. Reduce your driving time by finding a rental close to your interests.
  4. What’s your lodging budget? Let’s face it, vacations are a luxury, and often renting out a hotel room(s) for a full week is out of the question. Thankfully, vacation rentals are often the perfect economical choice for your accommodations. Consider what you’ll be spending on airfare, car rentals, the sites you’d like to enjoy, and the food you’re bound to eat. Make a budget and find a property that fits within it.
