The USA Pro Cycling Challenge will be in Breckenridge this month!
Referred to as “America’s Race,” the seven different stages will take place August 17- August 23. For seven consecutive days, the world’s top athletes will race through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountain Range, reaching higher altitudes than they have previously had to endure. The largest spectator event in the history of the state, the USA Pro Challenge is sure to bring a fun, positive, and competitive crowd to our favorite city!
On Thursday, August 20 cyclists will race from Aspen to Breckenridge and individual time trials will be held the following day on Friday, August 21. For stage five on Thursday, racers will start around 11AM then must complete both Independence and Hoosier Pass, two sprints, and then will have to tackle the wall up Moonstone Road to complete their route. Once racers have arrived in Breckenridge, stage five will begin on Friday at 10:50AM. For this demanding piece of the challenge, cyclists will participate in individual time trials that send participants on an 8.5 mile course that starts flat, brings the riders back up Moonstone Road and finishes with a carving descent. Individual trials will be separated by gender but all participants can expect massive support from the entire town.
We are excited to announce that Breckenridge has planned two fantastic festivals to celebrate their opportunity to host the Pro Cycling Challenge.
