School is out, and summer is upon us. Even though we have definitely had some interesting, yet exciting, weather in the last few months, we are excited for it to be summer and enjoy some sunshine here in Colorado. If you’ve been trying to plan a summer vacation to a new locale but haven’t been sure of where to go, may we suggest: Silverthorne. Hiking, biking, water sports, and more will have you enchanted and wondering why you’ve never been here before.

Hiking

If you are a lover of hiking, then Silverthorne will be like a dream come true for you. From easy enough to take the kids, to extremely difficult, we have a hike for everyone, and with views that do not disappoint. We recommend the Lily Pad Lake hike for families, and Ptarmigan Peak for the adventurers among you.

Out on the water

Fly fishing? We’ve got it. White water rafting? We have that, too. Coneing? Sailing? Paddleboarding? Trust us, we have an entire summer itinerary worth of incredible water activities to keep you busy. The Blue River is probably one of our most versatile spots! Fishing holes, white water, and calm stretches, make this perfect for everyone, no matter your interests.

Local eats

One of the best parts of traveling is getting to experience the cuisine in the new area, and Silverthorne would never dare disappoint in this area. We love Red Buffalo Coffee for an espresso or smoothie, and you can never go wrong with packing a picnic to enjoy out at Rainbow Park. Angry James will offer you seasonal brews, and stop by Mint to select your own steak to grill. You heard us.

Biking

If cycling and biking is your thing, you’ll have a great time at Silverthorne. The Blue River Trail is perfect for the entire family, complete with a beautiful view and destination. If you take your biking a little more seriously and are leaving the little ones at home, you can’t go wrong with the Oro Grande Trail, or a Brewery Bike Tour.
