silverthorneEvery vacation area has a secret, that well-kept, almost hidden jewel that only the locals and real insiders know about. In Summit County, that secret is Silverthorne, Colorado.
Why Silverthorne?

Silverthorne Colorado’s location is absolutely ideal. It’s nestled between three world-class ski resorts — Keystone (5 miles), Copper Mountain (10 miles), and Breckenridge (15 miles). The towns of Frisco and Dillon, both with access to beautiful Lake Dillon, are just two miles away. And the FREE Summit Stage bus whisks visitors all over Summit County…no parking, no hassles.

Because Silverthorne is still “off the radar” for many visitors, you’ll find newly built luxury townhomes at a fraction of what you’d pay at the resorts. In fact, you may find you can afford a more spacious townhome here instead of the studio or condo you were planning on renting. Rent early though; once the secret gets out it may become more difficult to find a unit.

There is plenty to do off the slopes in Silverthorne, Colorado. The Outlets at Silverthorne are actually three outdoor malls, built to integrate beautifully into the surrounding vistas. Not into shopping and dropping? Hit the hot tubs and the cardio machines at the Silverthorne Recreation Center instead.

In the winter months, the town maintains an ice skating rink for figure skating and hockey fans. Nordic skiing buffs take over the Raven Golf Course from December through March each year, giving it back to the golfers when the snow melts.

In addition to golf, summer finds visitors renting a sailboat on Lake Dillon, or hitting any number of hiking and biking trails within easy reach of Silverthorne.

In town, you’ll find a huge variety of dining options. Start your day with breakfast at the Mountain Lyon Cafe, or pack a lunch to go from the Smiling Moose Deli. Relax over the local’s favorite slab of beef at the Mint Steakhouse. Because this is still a relatively “non-touristy” part of the county, you’ll find local flavor and friendly folks everywhere you look.

From affordable and beautiful accommodations, to limitless activities and amenities, Silverthorne, Colorado truly is the heart of Summit County. Come visit and you’ll see why. Just keep it our little secret.
